How Do I Hear From God? | Intentional Relationships

Have you ever considered if God is speaking to you through those He places around you?

This message challenges us to reconsider how we listen for God by looking at the relationships already surrounding us. Drawing from Hebrews 10, we explore a striking call to be intentional about the people we do life with, and why that intentionality carries genuine spiritual weight. The passage reminds us that holding unswervingly to our faith is not a solo act. It requires us to spur one another on, to get near people, and to let people get near us.

The Greek word used for encouragement, parakaleo, is the same word Jesus uses for the Holy Spirit, and that is no accident. God is telling us that the relational energy he built into community is meant to mirror the very presence of his Spirit. We also sit with the sobering truth from Proverbs 13 and 1 Corinthians 15 that relationships are never neutral. Every person we allow close to us is either building our faith or quietly eroding it. This is not meant to make us suspicious of others, but to make us intentional.

The message leaves us with a simple and urgent question: are we leveraging the relationships God has already placed in front of us, or are we trying to muscle through life on our own?
