The Journey

The Journey is Taking a Pause

For years, The Journey has told the story of Christ's birth in a way that's shaped how our community experiences Christmas. This year, we're pausing it to dream about what's next.

The Journey has been meaningful, creative, and impactful, especially for those of us already following Jesus. But as we look at where we're investing our time, energy, and resources, we want to align even more intentionally with our mission: leading people into a life-changing relationship with Jesus.

That means asking a harder question, not just how do we serve the people already in the room, but how do we reach the people who feel far from God.

This pause isn't about walking away from something good. It's about making room for something that could be even more fruitful.

For Our Serve Teams

If you've ever built a set, run a cue, walked a group through the fields, or stood in costume in the cold so someone could encounter the story of Jesus in a new way, this one's for you. The Journey has been what it is because of you, your creativity, your hours, your heart for the people who walked through it. We don't take that lightly, and we know this news will feel personal. That's because it is.

This isn't the end of your story with The Journey. We want to keep dreaming with you about how it comes back and what it could look like to bring it out into our community. And if you're looking for a place to serve this Christmas, we'd love to help you find it. Reach out to your team lead, we're already thinking about where you'd be a great fit.

Common questions

IS THE JOURNEY CANCELED FOR GOOD?
No. The Journey is paused, not canceled, for at least this year. We're using this time to evaluate how, and where, it comes back, including what it could look like to bring The Journey out into our community instead of bringing people to it.
WHY NOW?
As we look at where we're investing our time, energy, and resources, we want to align even more intentionally with our mission: leading people into a life-changing relationship with Jesus. This pause gives us space to ask how we reach people who feel far from God, not just how we serve the people already in the room. It's not a reaction to something going wrong. It's about making room for something that could be even more fruitful.
CAN I STILL SERVE SOMEWHERE THIS CHRISTMAS?
Yes. If you served on a Journey team and are looking for a place to serve this Christmas, reach out to your team lead or fill out the Connect Card to find a place to serve now.
