Reading For Friday | 1 John 1 & Philippians 1

Even the strongest spiritual house requires maintenance. Giving generously reminds us that all we have comes from God and belongs to Him. It shifts our focus away from what we only think is in our control and—when done as an act of worship—keeps us centered on His mission instead of being tempted to chase our own.

1 John 1 reminds us to confess our sins and walk in fellowship with God. Philippians 1 assures us that God is faithfully at work, completing the good work He began in us. Even with a solid Rule of Life in place, none of us are capable of perfection in the spiritual life. Reflection, confession, and repentance help realign our lives with God’s purposes and allow us to pick up and start again with renewed strength when we stumble or stray from the blueprint.

Vision Week challenges us to celebrate what God has done and recommit to all spiritual practices—baptism, daily rhythms, groups, serving, outreach, giving, worship, and reaching our one. Staying devoted is an active, ongoing choice, not a one-time decision. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to revisit your Rule of Life. Check your foundation, blueprint, framing, roof, and maintenance. Adjust as needed so your spiritual house is ready to stand firm, shine bright, and invite others in.

Reflection Questions

• Which areas of your spiritual house need attention?

• How can you strengthen your devotion to all practices?

• Who is your next “one” that God wants you to reach?

Prayer Prompt

Write a prayer committing to a life built on Christ, shaped by your Rule of Life, and devoted to inviting others into His family.
