Reading For Monday | James 2:14-17 | Luke 5:17-25

In James 2:14-17, we are reminded that faith without works is dead. In other words, how useful is our faith in Jesus if it doesn’t transform both us and the world around us? The story of the four friends in Luke 5 illustrates the importance of putting our faith into action. Their determination to bring their friend to Jesus challenges us to consider how we can actively participate in God’s mission.

Reflect on the ways you can move beyond simply hoping that the people God has placed in your life who don’t yet know Him will come to know Him — and instead, choose to engage as an active participant in His work in their lives. Identify specific steps you can take to support missions, whether through giving, volunteering, or advocating for the unreached.

JOURNALING & REFLECTION

  • Who first told you about Jesus? How would your life be different if that person had not shared the gospel with you?
  • How can you put your faith into action this week to engage those around you who don’t yet know Jesus? What obstacles might you face, and how can you overcome them?
  • Consider writing a prayer of commitment, asking God to help you take specific actions in reaching your “one” this week.

PRAYER PROMPT

Pray for the courage and commitment to follow through on these actions, trusting that God will use your efforts to bring others to Him.

“Lord, thank You for the people who have shared Your love with me. Help me live out my faith this week through kindness, service, and courage to share Your hope. Open my eyes to those around me who need You, and use my life to reflect Your love in everything I do. Amen.”
