MORE THAN WORDS

MONDAY, APRIL 7

READING: MATTHEW 7:21-23

TRUE DISCIPLESHIP MEANS CHANGE

This is a tough truth, isn't it? Jesus says, “Away from me, you evildoers!”—and those words cut deep.
So, how can we make sure we won’t hear those painful words ourselves? The answer is simple, but the act of living it out is much harder. In verse 21, Jesus makes it clear: only those who do the will of His Father will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
It’s not enough to simply say the right words or perform the right actions. As we’ve talked about before, it's easy to speak words we don’t truly mean, or to do the right things for the wrong reasons. What truly matters is the why behind our actions and the whom we are serving. Are we doing it because it aligns with God’s will and fosters a deeper relationship with Him? That’s the heart of true discipleship—surrendering to His will, walking in obedience, and committing fully to Him. He desires our heart…all of it.
The kingdoms of this world are filled with deception. But in the Kingdom of Heaven, God’s truth shines a light on those lies and empty promises. So today, let’s take an honest look at our lives and hearts. Are we truly following Jesus with all that we are? Or are we simply going through the motions? Let’s strive to be true disciples, walking in sincerity, obedience, and love for Him.

INTENTIONAL HONEST REFLECTION

Take a few moments to pray, reflect, and journal on the following questions:
  • How often are you intentionally seeking God’s will in the decisions you face daily?
  • Where are you deceiving yourself and holding onto the promises of the kingdom of this world?
  • In what area of your life do you feel Jesus calling you to greater obedience today?

PRAY

Take some time to be with Jesus and have a conversation with Him about how you can stay close to him and be a true disciple.
