PEACE BE STILL

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2
READING: MATTHEW 7:15-20
Peace seems to be a lifelong pursuit that we never seem to capture. We would love to have peace of mind, peace in our homes, peace on the job, peace within our country and peace throughout the world. The reality is that some of us deal with stress, anxiety, depression, worry, doubt and the list goes on. The pace and busyness of life does not leave us room for peace. Now some of us have the opportunity to experience seasons of peace, but this is not true for all of us. The trials of life are ever before us all and it can push us into a place where we produce not so good fruit. Stress on the job can cause us to bring stress home. This leads to dysfunctional family relationships. When the family dynamic is not stable, it eventually affects the community. When we do not have peace within our hearts, it affects every aspect of our life. It affects our relationships, family, job, communities, nation and the world itself.
Jesus has the ability to step into any situation and bring peace to it just as he did in Mark 4:39-40: “And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, ‘Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?’” When we invite Jesus into our lives on a daily basis with prayer and reading Scripture, he will always be available to speak peace into our situations. Jesus’ ability to speak peace into our lives provides an environment for producing good fruit.

MORNING
Start your morning with a short prayer: “God, show me how to invite you into the boat of my life on a daily basis and speak peace. I ask you to speak peace into my heart, my mind, my body, my family, my job, my community and every aspect of my life. Thank you for your peace that passes all understanding. In Jesus name I pray Amen!” Journal any thoughts that come to you as you listen.

INTENTIONAL HONEST REFLECTION
Take a few moments to pray, honestly reflect, and journal on the following questions:
- Have I invited God into the boat of my life for him to speak peace into every situation?
- Do I have peace of mind? Is my home at peace? How can God use me to bring peace to my home?
- What is preventing me from experiencing the peace of God?
