CAN YOU HEAR YOUR GOOD SHEPHERD?

FRIDAY, MARCH 28
READING: JOHN 10:1-16
LISTEN TO HIS VOICE
“The one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep…
I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me, just as my Father knows me and I know the Father. So I sacrifice my life for the sheep. I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd.” (John 10:2, 14-16)
The gate isn’t so frightening when the shepherd guides you through.
If you enjoyed yesterday’s prayer practice of Lectio Divina feel free to revisit it. Today, we offer another way of approaching the practice through journaling. You can take either of these practices and apply them to any passage of Scripture. We hope you’ll take these tools with you into your continued study of God’s Word.

LECTIO DEVINA JOURNAL PRACTICE
We’re going to walk through three simple steps (from Soul Shepherding’s How to do Lectio Divina):
- One Word. Read John 10:1-16. If it’s helpful, listen to the passage. What is one word or phrase the Holy Spirit impresses on you? Write it down, then in silence meditate on it.
- Feelings. Read John 10:1-16 again. What do you feel? What specific situation in your life today relates? Write down a prayer in response.
- Invitation. Read John 10:1-16 one last time. What is God’s personal invitation to you from this passage? You can write down what the Lord may be saying to you or a prayer for someone who is ‘not in this sheepfold’. Be with Jesus, resting quietly in His presence.
