ONE DAY AT A TIME

FRIDAY, MARCH 14

READING: MATTHEW 6:34

STAY PRESENT

These verses end with a powerful reminder to not let our worries steal our attention from the blessings and beauty right in front of us. Jesus is inviting us to let go of our grip on the future and focus on today—the present moment. He’s not saying we shouldn’t think ahead or plan for what’s next, but He’s pointing out that worrying about what’s coming doesn’t change a thing. In fact, it often makes it harder to appreciate the now. When we focus on the present, we’re able to embrace what God has for us today, trusting that He’s already in tomorrow and will be with us when we get there.

This isn’t always easy, especially when life feels uncertain, but Jesus’ words remind us that today has enough to handle without dragging in the worries of tomorrow. The grace we need to face today is already available. So, what if we really lived in the present? What if we trusted God for what’s ahead without letting it overshadow what’s happening right now?

PRAY THROUGH THESE TODAY

  • Return to the present moment: When distractions or worries creep in, remind me to focus on the here and now.
  • Surrender control: What areas of my life am I holding onto too tightly? Help me to let go of the need to control what’s coming.
  • Trust You with tomorrow: Help me trust that You’ve got tomorrow covered and that I don’t need to carry those worries.
  • Experience peace in the present: Guide me to fully experience Your peace today, right where I am.
  • Embrace each moment: Help me see the value in each moment and trust that You are working in it.
