SHINING LIGHT OR CASTING SHADOWS

READING: MATTHEW 6:19-21
OUR EYES ARE LIKE THE LAMP OF OUR BODIES
In Matthew 6:22-23, Jesus reminds us that our eyes are like the lamp of our bodies—what we choose to look at and focus on deeply impacts our hearts and lives. He challenges us to examine where we’re looking, what we’re filling our minds with, and whether it’s leading us toward light or darkness. The things and people we watch, listen to, or read all play a role in shaping our perspective. Are we choosing content that brings light, unity, compassion, and grace into our hearts, or do we find ourselves drawn to anger, division, or negativity? Jesus’ words are an invitation to reflect. So, let’s pause and think about the things we
consume—whether it’s podcasts, books, or TV shows—and ask ourselves, is this filling me with light, or is it casting shadows on my heart? Let’s bring these areas to God in prayer, asking Him to reveal where we may be unknowingly welcoming darkness and celebrate the light He has already begun to shine in us. How can we reflect that light into the world around us?

PRAY
- Show me the dark places in my heart or mind where I’ve been holding onto negativity, fear, or things I need to let go of. Help me see where I need Your light to break through.
- Show me where I’ve mistaken shadows for light, where I’ve been deceived into thinking something is bringing me peace or truth, but it's actually leading me away from You.
- Thank You for the light You’ve already given me. Help me celebrate Your truth and reflect that light to others in a way that brings hope, love, and grace to those around me.
