TANGIBLE TREASURES
In Matthew 6:19-21, Jesus invites us to examine our hearts. Today, let’s focus on tangible treasures—the physical things we accumulate, hold onto, and invest in. Jesus makes it clear that these earthly possessions aren’t lasting; they can be stolen, decayed, or lost. But what we choose to value in this life reveals something deeper about where our hearts are anchored. Jesus doesn’t just want us to think about our stuff, but to reflect on why we pursue it in the first place. Are we building up treasures that will fade, or are we investing in things that have eternal value? To help us answer that, let’s pause and ask ourselves some tough questions about the tangible things in our lives, the things that fill our spaces and our time.
WHAT DO YOU TREASURE?
Take a few moments to pray, honestly reflect, and journal on the following questions.
- What are the three things you’ve spent the most money on in the past year? What drove those decisions?
- How much time do you spend taking care of your possessions or planning to acquire more?
- What physical items do you find yourself constantly reaching for or seeking out?
- How would you feel if you couldn’t replace the things you treasure most—would it affect your sense of self-worth or happiness?
- In what ways do your possessions impact your relationships with others? Are they a source of pride, comparison, or connection?
