Christmas with Compassion | Launch Week 03
WELCOME
Welcome to Genealogy of Christmas Reading Plan! This reading plan is designed to partner with Compassion Christian Church’s sermon series of the same name, which you can find information about right here.
Christmas is truly one of our favorite seasons around here. Most of all, we enjoy slowing down and remembering how our God humbled Himself for us. He chose to leave the throne in Heaven to be born as a baby, walk in our world, and experience what we experience to reconcile our brokenness to His Holiness.
This week, as we continue to talk about “who Jesus came from is who He came for,” we are looking at Rahab and David. Rahab is one of the first people we meet in the Promised Land. Her history is shady, but she fears God and her boldness ends up changing her lineage. David is more well known as being the popular King David of Isreal. Yet, his legacy is still messy and God still forgives and keeps His promise.
Before We Start
The Bible Project has a great article that speaks to the historical importance of Jesus’ genealogy that is found in the book of Matthew. Spend time reading for deeper context.
Looking Ahead
Monday, December 16 - Joshua 2
Tuesday, December 17 - Joshua 6
Wednesday, December 18 - 2 Samuel 7
Thursday, December 19 - 2 Samuel 11
Friday, December 20 - 1 Kings 1:28-40
