Christmas with Compassion | Launch Week 02
WELCOME
Welcome to Genealogy of Christmas Reading Plan! This reading plan is designed to partner with Compassion Christian Church’s sermon series of the same name, which you can find information about right here.
Christmas is truly one of our favorite seasons around here. Not only do we enjoy the time with family and friends, hot chocolate, and opening presents that all occur during this season. Most of all, we enjoy slowing down and remembering how our God humbled Himself for us. He chose to leave the throne in Heaven to be born as a baby, walk in our world, and experience what we experience to reconcile our brokenness to His Holiness.
This week we are taking a look at Judah, one of the sons of Jacob. The tribe of Judah is one of the more popular twelve tribes in the Old Testament. But the actual story of Judah is less known. How did the fourth son of Jacob come to be one of the most important tribes out of the twelve tribes of Israel? That question is what we will look at and unpack this week.
Before We Start
The Bible Project has a great article that speaks to the historical importance of Jesus’ genealogy that is found in the book of Matthew. Spend time reading for deeper context.

Friday, December 13 - Psalm 78:65-72
