Getting Started This Week | Faith Promise 2026 | Week 2

October 26 - 31, 2026
Standing Together Far Apart
Focus of the Week:
Christ's work has expanded all around the world. Even here at Compassion, we partner with people and organizations all around the world extending the Gospel to people who have never heard it. While we may be spread far apart, we stand together in prayer.

Getting Ready For The Week
This week we will have a guiding post with scriptures for each day focused on the overall topic for the week. Reflection questions are set for the entire week to provide time to dive deeper into scripture each day.
Notes on the practices:
Journaling and reflection both help to slow down and be mindful of what is being read. Both are similar practices; feel free to journal reflection questions or reflect on journalling questions. These are here to be a guide, not a task. Let the Holy Spirit lead you to whatever He may want to highlight for you specifically.
Getting Started:
Last week we heard about and considered what some of our Global Partners have done to share the Good News of Christ. We wrestled with how they have chosen to respond to God's call, recognizing that everything He has done is worth it. We realize that sacrificing something in this life will make it that much better in Heaven. In the midst of this Faith Promise season, as you examine all of these things in your own heart, you may be wondering how I can help. What part has God called me to play in fulfilling this extravagant part of the Great Commission? Sometimes the answer is to take a step of faithful giving; other times, it might be to step out onto the field by joining a Go Team. Yet one of the most critical things we can always do is pray continuously for them and the work our partners are doing.
Prayer is often a form of support and care that gets overlooked because it can feel detached. We don't always see the fruit of what's happening or the impact of interceding on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Christ. But we have a wonderful example from Paul in his letter that he wrote to the Colossians. (Colossians 1:9-14) Paul heard about Christians in this area and began praying for them, that they may fully know God first and then be so empowered to go out and extend His kingdom. This is the exact type of prayer for our partners: that they be encouraged, know God more, and be filled with the Spirit to extend the Kingdom of God to those who desperately need Him.
Another aspect of Paul's example is that he is praying for people he did not know personally. He did not meet them, only heard of them and was overcome with joy that the Gospel of Christ is spreading. We may only see a couple of the people that are doing the work, or we may never see them. That does not mean we should never pray for them.
So, even though we may be on the other side of the world, speaking a different language, and never meeting face to face, we are united in Christ and in prayer. Let this be the posture of your heart this week as you seek daily moments with the Lord. Take an intentional moment to intercede on behalf of those who are reaping the harvest day after day (John 4:35).
Let this be the starting point:
Ask God to reveal how you might pray, give or go to support our partners around the world.

Reflection
Reflection helps us pause, listen, and let God speak to our hearts.
- Do I really believe prayer is powerful?
