Getting Started This Week | Christian Streaker | Week 6

October 12 - 17, 2026
Sword of the Spirit
Focus of the Week:
God has given us a full set of armor to protect ourselves against sin and Satan. Yet many of us accepted the gift of salvation and stopped arming ourselves. How can we use the words of God as a weapon?

Getting Ready For The Week
This week we will have a guiding post with scriptures for each day focused on the overall topic for the week. Reflection questions are set for the entire week to provide time to dive deeper into scripture each day.
Notes on the practices:
Journaling and reflection both help to slow down and be mindful of what is being read. Both are similar practices; feel free to journal reflection questions or reflect on journalling questions. These are here to be a guide, not a task. Let the Holy Spirit lead you to whatever He may want to highlight for you specifically.
Getting Started:
As we conclude this series, there is a piece of armor that has yet to be mentioned. We have discussed the "wearable" armor, as well as the shield that moves and goes before us. Now, we shift to the piece that is more offensive in nature: the Sword of the Spirit.
The Sword is the constant, unchanging Word of God. The Word of God is the most important defense and offense against Satan and the powers of darkness. God's word provides a decisive strike against those powers as they are constant and true, whereas a reliance upon our reasoning and intellect is flawed. The best example of this is Jesus, when Satan tempted him he quoted God's word correctly as his defense causing Satan to be completely disarmed. (Matthew 4:1-11)
We all can agree, God's word is vital to our defense. But how do we do this? There is the "daily bread" aspect of being in the scriptures each day. There is also scripture memorization. The ability to take God's word with you is invaluable as spiritual attacks are not always present when we are sitting with our Bible at hand. Additionally, there are benefits to practices of speaking aloud the words of God rather than just thought in our minds.
So, now with our completed armor of God, we may now stand firm against the enemies of God. We can withstand these spiritual attacks as our armor is made out of stronger stuff than what we could make up ourselves.
Let this be the starting point:
Ask God to help you use His word as your sword against spiritual attacks.

Scriptures For The Week
Scripture helps us hear God and live out His truth. This week we will focus on Scripture that displays God speaking through the Holy Spirit.
- Tuesday | The Sharpest Sword - Hebrews 4:12
- Wednesday | The Word is Christ - Isaiah 11:4
- Thursday | Using God's Weapons - 2 Corinthians 10:3-6
- Friday | Paul's Warning - 2 Thessalonians 2:9-14
- Saturday | Christ's Return - Revelation 19:11-16
Weekly Memory Verse
Read it once a day. Let it shape how you think and pray this week.
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
2 Timothy 3:16
2 Timothy 3:16
Reflection
Reflection helps us pause, listen, and let God speak to our hearts.
- Am I fully armored with God's provision?
- Do I limit my defensive effectiveness by how I treat scripture?
- What can I change to make sure I always have my "sword" with me?
Ready To Begin?
You don’t have to have everything figured out.
Just take the next step.
Just take the next step.
