Getting Started This Week | Christian Streaker | Week 5

October 5 - 10, 2026

Shield of Faith

Focus of the Week:

God has given us a full set of armor to protect ourselves against sin and Satan. Yet many of us accepted the gift of salvation and stopped arming ourselves. How do we use our faith to protect ourselves?

Getting Ready For The Week

This week we will have a guiding post with scriptures for each day focused on the overall topic for the week. Reflection questions are set for the entire week to provide time to dive deeper into scripture each day.

Notes on the practices:

Journaling and reflection both help to slow down and be mindful of what is being read. Both are similar practices; feel free to journal reflection questions or reflect on journalling questions. These are here to be a guide, not a task. Let the Holy Spirit lead you to whatever He may want to highlight for you specifically.

Getting Started:

Throughout our series, we've discussed God's armor and how it protects us from the forces of darkness. This week's piece of armor focuses specifically on protection. It's the image we most often picture when we think of being protected. The Shield of Faith is made up not just of our intellectual understanding of who God is, but also of our confidence and trust in God.

The beauty of the shield comes in how and what it protects us from. Satan is often described as the deceiver, will use lies and counterfeits to try and pull God's children away from Him. Satan will also use these tools to keep people away from God and hardhearted toward hearing the Gospel. Our faith in God counteracts these lies and deceits as we have confidence in who we are in Christ.

While the shield is seen primarily as a defensive piece of armor it is not passive. Paul, when he wrote to the Ephesians, spoke of having active faith. (Ephesians 4:17-32). He depicts brothers and sisters in Christ living in such a way that is not passive waiting for things to happen, but active in their faith. We are to be active in remembering who God is, what He has done, and our confidence that He will continue in the same way He always has and will not change.

Let this be the starting point:

Ask God to show how you might utilize your faith as a better shield.

Scriptures For The Week

Scripture helps us hear God and live out His truth. This week we will focus on Scripture that displays God speaking through the Holy Spirit.

Weekly Memory Verse

Read it once a day. Let it shape how you think and pray this week.
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

Romans 10:17 NLT

Reflection

Reflection helps us pause, listen, and let God speak to our hearts.
  • Am I fully armored with God's provision?
  • Is my faith merely intellectual understanding of God or one that is full of belief, confidence and trust in who He is?
  • How has my faith already combatted Satan's lies or deceits?

Ready To Begin?

You don’t have to have everything figured out.
