Getting Started This Week | Christian Streaker | Week 1

September 7 - 12, 2026

Helmet of Salvation

Focus of the Week:

God has given us a full set of armor to protect ourselves against sin and Satan. Yet many of us accepted the gift of salvation and stopped arming ourselves. There's more to becoming like Christ than accepting Him as Lord.

Getting Ready For The Week

This week we will have a guiding post with scriptures for each day focused on the overall topic for the week. Reflection questions are set for the entire week to provide time to dive deeper into scripture each day.

Notes on the practices:

Journaling and reflection both help to slow down and be mindful of what is being read. Both are similar practices; feel free to journal reflection questions or reflect on journalling questions. These are here to be a guide, not a task. Let the Holy Spirit lead you to whatever He may want to highlight for you specifically.

Getting Started:

Stepping into a relationship with Christ is big - like life-changing, world-shifting big. We wrestle with this reality most clearly when we take the bold step of acknowledging we are sinners who need a Savior. Belief leads us to obedient action when we repent, confess our faith, and decide to be baptized. But many of us make the mistake of stopping right here. We come up short when it comes to the “lived-out” faith that we read about in the pages of our Bible or the people we encounter around us whose faith seems so deeply rooted. And that gap can feel all too evident, especially when we face the trials and challenges we come across. At some point, you might even start to wonder, “I believe in Jesus, so shouldn’t all of this stuff just work itself out?”

The truth is, God doesn’t intend for us to face life unprepared or unprotected. Friends, we’ve been intentionally equipped by a Father who knew we would face temptation, deception, and the schemes of the enemy. Paul describes this equipping with the imagery of a suit of armor made up of different parts that work together to protect and strengthen us every day. That armor is made up of the helmet of salvation, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of gospel peace, the shield of faith, and the sword of the Spirit.

All of us start with putting on the helmet of salvation, which makes sense—it’s the first step in our journey with God. Armed with the truth of the gospel, our minds and thoughts are protected against despair and deceit (Philippians 4:8). Holding an eternal perspective on the work God has done and continues to do helps us better grasp what matters most and what doesn’t (Matthew 6:20). We also learn to depend on the Lord as our primary source of hope and assurance. Stopping here leaves so much exposed to the enemy, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But most importantly, we miss the Spirit's transformative work, which leads us to look more and more like Jesus.

So, with that in mind, let us consider the call to transformation and renewal that Paul sets forth in Romans 12:2. Take time this week to identify patterns or habits that need to be shed to make room for an aspect of the new creation you are becoming. Be encouraged that God loves you enough to meet you in those difficult places and provide the spiritual armor needed to prevail. For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life - the helmet of salvation.

Let this be the starting point:

Ask God to show how you might become more prepared to fight against sin, temptation, and Satan.

Scriptures For The Week

Scripture helps us hear God and live out His truth. This week we will focus on Scripture that displays God speaking through the Holy Spirit.

Weekly Memory Verse

Read it once a day. Let it shape how you think and pray this week.
"Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil."

Ephesians 6:11 NLT

Reflection

Reflection helps us pause, listen, and let God speak to our hearts.
  • Am I fully armored with God's provision?
  • Is there an area of my life I have left unprotected or unguarded?
  • Am I being attacked by something I haven't been able to explain recently?

Ready To Begin?

You don’t have to have everything figured out.

Just take the next step.
