The Best Things In Life | Tuesday

This Week's Focus:
Tithing is a discipline, but generosity is a mindset. God isn’t just teaching us how to give, He’s transforming how we think. As we shift from a scarcity mindset to an abundance mindset, we begin to trust that God is not only enough, but more than enough. This is where generosity becomes a natural overflow, not an obligation.

Scripture

Scripture Helps Us Hear God And Live His Truth.
7You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 8And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

2 Corinthians 9:7–8 (NLT)

A Cheerful Heart

Generosity doesn’t start with your wallet. It starts with your heart.

Paul makes it clear: “You must each decide in your heart.”
That means generosity is personal.
It’s not about comparison.
It’s not about pressure.
It’s not about meeting someone else’s expectations.
It’s about a willing, surrendered heart before God.

Because you can give and still not be generous.
You can give out of guilt.
You can give to look good.
You can give because you feel like you have to.

But that’s not the kind of giving God is after.
He’s after something deeper: a cheerful heart

A heart that trusts Him enough to release what it has.
A heart that believes He will provide again.
A heart that finds joy not in holding on, but in letting go.

And here’s the promise attached to that kind of heart:
God will generously provide all you need.

Not always all you want.
Not always in the way you expect.
But always enough.

When we shift from reluctant giving to cheerful giving, something changes.

We stop seeing generosity as loss, and we start seeing it as participation in what God is doing.

We begin to trust that what leaves our hands never leaves God’s control.

So today, don’t just think about what you give.
Pay attention to how you give.

Because the posture of your heart matters more than the size of your gift.

Reflection

Reflection Helps Us Pause, Listen, And Let God Speak To Our Hearts.
  • What is my current attitude toward giving—cheerful, reluctant, or pressured?
  • Where might I be giving out of obligation instead of trust?
  • What would it look like for me to give from a joyful, surrendered heart today?

Journaling Prompts

This Is A Safe Place To Be Honest With God
  • Write honestly about how you feel when you think about givingwhat emotions come up?
  • Ask God to reshape your heart toward cheerful generosity and write what He reveals.
  • Describe one step you can take today to give with joy instead of hesitation.
