The Best Things In Life | Saturday

Saturday | May 30

Focus of the Week:
True freedom isn’t found in having more, it’s found in trusting God as our provider and learning to live with contentment, generosity, and wisdom. When we release the grip that money, comparison, and fear can have on our hearts, we make room to experience the kind of peace only God can give.

Scripture

Scripture Helps Us Hear God And Live His Truth.
9But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.

1 Timothy 6:9 (NLT)

Where Is Your Trust?

Paul’s words in 1 Timothy 6:18–19 (NLT) invite us into a way of living that turns the values of our world upside down: “Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need… By doing this they will be storing up their treasure… so that they may experience true life.”

As we close out this week, this passage reminds us that the richest life isn’t built by holding tightly to what we have, but by opening our hands and allowing God to use what He’s given us for His purposes.

Generosity isn’t just an action, it’s a posture of trust.
It’s choosing to believe that God is our provider, that He sees our needs, and that He invites us into a life where fear no longer dictates our decisions.

When we live open‑handed, we break the grip that money, comparison, and anxiety can have on our hearts. We begin to experience the freedom that comes from trusting God more than our resources.

Paul says that generosity builds “a good foundation for the future,” not because it earns us anything, but because it aligns our hearts with eternity. Every act of giving becomes an investment in what truly lasts, lives changed, hope restored, and God’s kingdom moving forward. And in that kind of living, Paul says we “experience true life.”

True life isn’t found in accumulation; it’s found in participation, joining God in His work, using what we have to bless others, and discovering the joy that flows from a generous heart. As we release our grip, we make room for God’s peace.

As we give, we make room for His joy.
As we trust, we make room for His freedom.

This is what it means to live rich through generosity.

Reflection

Reflection Helps Us Pause, Listen, And Let God Speak To Our Hearts.
  • In what ways is God inviting me to see generosity not as a loss, but as a pathway to freedom and “true life” as Paul describes?
  • Where might God be calling me to loosen my grip on money, comparison, or fear so I can trust Him more fully?
  • What person, need, or situation is God placing on my heart that may be an invitation to use what I have to do good?

Journaling Prompts

This Is A Safe Place To Be Honest With God
Let your journal become a conversation with Him. Write what you sense, what you hope for, what scares you, and what excites you. God meets you in the honesty.
  • Reflect on a time when giving, whether time, resources, or encouragement, filled you with peace or purpose, and explore what that reveals about God’s heart.
  • Consider where fear or comparison has been shaping your decisions, and write about what it might look like to release that to God.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to highlight one practical way you can live open‑handed, and journal about how you hope to step into that with courage and joy.
