The Best Things In Life | Tuesday

This Week's Focus:
True freedom isn’t found in having more, it’s found in trusting God as our provider and learning to live with contentment, generosity, and wisdom. When we release the grip that money, comparison, and fear can have on our hearts, we make room to experience the kind of peace only God can give.

Scripture
Scripture Helps Us Hear God And Live His Truth.
15Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”

Guard Your Heart
At the start of this week, Jesus gives us a warning, but it’s not harsh, it’s protective.
“Beware. Guard your heart.”
Why? Because there’s something subtle that can quietly take hold without us even realizing it: the belief that more will finally be enough.
More money.
More security.
More comfort.
More success.
And before we know it, our hearts begin to attach meaning, identity, and even peace to what we have, or what we’re still trying to get.
Jesus cuts straight through that mindset with one powerful truth:
Life is not measured by how much you own.
That’s not just a statement, it’s an invitation to freedom.
Because if life is measured by possessions, then we will always feel behind. There will always be someone with more. There will always be pressure to keep up. And there will always be a quiet anxiety asking, “Do I have enough yet?”
But Jesus is calling us to guard against that way of thinking altogether.
Notice He says EVERY kind of greed, not just obvious greed, but the subtle forms too:
These things don’t just affect our wallets, they shape our hearts.
And whatever shapes our hearts will shape our lives.
That’s why guarding your heart matters.
This is about awareness and surrender. It’s about recognizing when something other than God is starting to define your peace, and choosing to bring it back to Him.
Because freedom doesn’t start when your circumstances change.
Freedom starts when your heart is anchored in truth.
When we begin to believe that our life is not measured by what we own, something shifts:
And that’s where peace begins.
So today, don’t just evaluate your finances, evaluate your heart.
What has been measuring your life lately?
And are you willing to let Jesus redefine it?

- Comparison that makes us feel like we’re lacking
- Fear that we won’t have enough
- The quiet belief that more will fix what we feel
These things don’t just affect our wallets, they shape our hearts.
And whatever shapes our hearts will shape our lives.

- We stop striving to prove our worth
- We loosen our grip on comparison
- We begin to trust that God is enough

Reflection
Reflection Helps Us Pause, Listen, And Let God Speak To Our Hearts.
- Where have I been measuring my life by what I have—or what I don’t have?
- What subtle forms of greed (comparison, fear, striving) might be shaping my heart right now?
- What would change if I truly believed my life is not defined by possessions?
Journaling Prompts
This Is A Safe Place To Be Honest With God
- Write honestly about an area where you’ve felt “not enough” lately, what is driving that feeling?
- Ask God to reveal any misplaced trust in money or material things, and write what comes to mind.
- Describe what it would look like to live today with a guarded heart, aware, surrendered, and rooted in truth.
