Prone To Wander | Saturday

Saturday | May 23
This Week's Focus: Encountering God transforms us. Moses’ face shone after spending time with God, a visible reflection of His glory. Our time with God shapes how we think, respond, and interact with the world. Transformation often starts internally before it becomes visible externally.
God invites us to spend time in His presence, not for show, but for inner renewal. When we behold Him daily, our hearts are changed, our perspectives shift, and even our actions reflect His character.

Scripture
Scripture Helps Us Hear God And Live His Truth.
1And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice, the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Renewed From the Inside Out
As we close out this week reflecting on how we are prone to wander, we’re invited into something deeper, not just awareness of our wandering, but transformation through renewal.
Paul writes in Romans 12:1–2,
“Give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you… Let them be a living and holy sacrifice… Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”
This is the invitation: not behavior modification, but heart and mind transformation.
All week, we’ve seen that encountering God changes us. Just like Moses, who came down from the mountain with his face shining after being in God’s presence, time with God leaves a mark. But here’s the key, before that transformation is ever visible externally, it begins internally.
We don’t drift into transformation. We intentionally present ourselves to God.
This is about surrender. It’s about saying, “God, not just part of me, but all of me. My thoughts, my patterns, my reactions, my desires.” And as we do, God begins His work, not by forcing change from the outside, but by renewing our minds from the inside out.
The world will constantly try to shape how we think, through fear, comparison, pressure, and distraction. But God offers a better way. His presence reshapes our perspective. His truth rewires our thinking. His Spirit softens and redirects our hearts.
Transformation happens when we consistently place ourselves before Him.
It might look small, five quiet minutes, a whispered prayer, meditating on Scripture, but these moments are not insignificant. They are forming you. They are renewing you.
And over time, what starts internally begins to show externally:
You become living proof that time with God changes a person.
So as we end this week, the question isn’t just “Have I wandered?”
We all have.
The question is: “Will I return and be renewed?”
God isn’t asking for perfection. He’s inviting presence.
And in His presence, transformation is inevitable.

Reflection
Reflection Helps Us Pause, Listen, And Let God Speak To Our Hearts.
- Where in my life am I trying to change outward behavior without inviting God to transform my thinking first?
- What thoughts or patterns does God want to renew in me right now?
- How has time in God’s presence recently shaped the way I respond to people or situations?
Journaling Prompts
This Is A Safe Place To Be Honest With God
- Write a prayer of surrender, offering every part of your mind, your worries, habits, and thought patterns, to God.
- Reflect on a recent moment where you “wandered” in your thinking. What truth from God could replace that thought?
- Describe what a “renewed mind” would look like in your daily life, how would it change your perspective, reactions, and decisions?

Weekly Memory Verse
Read It Once A Day. Let It Shape How You Think And Pray This Week.
So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord, who is the Spirit, makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
