Prone To Wander | Thursday

This Week's Focus: Encountering God transforms us. Moses’ face shone after spending time with God, a visible reflection of His glory. Our time with God shapes how we think, respond, and interact with the world. Transformation often starts internally before it becomes visible externally.
God invites us to spend time in His presence, not for show, but for inner renewal. When we behold Him daily, our hearts are changed, our perspectives shift, and even our actions reflect His character.

Scripture
Scripture Helps Us Hear God And Live His Truth.
When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord.

Reflected Glory
2 Corinthians 3:12–18 reminds us of something both beautiful and deeply personal: God doesn’t just meet us, He transforms us. And not all at once, not in a single moment, but from glory to glory.
Paul paints this picture of “unveiled faces.” In Moses’ day, there was a veil, something that separated people from fully seeing God’s glory. But now, because of Jesus, that veil is gone. There’s nothing standing between us and the presence of God. No striving, no pretending, no hiding. Just open, honest, face-to-face relationship with Him.
And here’s the truth we’ve been leaning into all week: when we spend time in God’s presence, we don’t leave the same.
We may come in weary, distracted, or even wandering, but we leave changed.
Not because we tried harder…
Not because we fixed ourselves…
But because His Spirit does the work within us.
That’s the kind of transformation Paul is talking about. It’s not behavior modification, it’s heart transformation. It’s God reshaping our thoughts, renewing our desires, softening what’s hardened, and strengthening what’s weak.
And as we close out this week, here’s the encouragement: God’s presence doesn’t just restore you, it empowers you.
He empowers you to live differently.
To respond with grace instead of frustration.
To choose faith when fear creeps in.
To reflect His love in your everyday, ordinary moments.
You don’t have to manufacture that kind of life. You simply reflect what you’ve been beholding.
That’s why time with God matters so much. Those small, intentional moments, five minutes in prayer, sitting with Scripture, being still and listening, they’re not small at all. They are where transformation begins.
Because the more you behold His glory, the more your life begins to reflect it.
So as we wrap up this Prone to Wander series, remember this: yes, we are prone to wander, but we are also invited to return. Again and again. And every time we do, God meets us, restores us, and continues His work in us.
From glory to glory.
And maybe today, your next step is simple: come back into His presence. No pressure. No performance. Just an unveiled heart, ready to be changed.

Reflection
Reflection Helps Us Pause, Listen, And Let God Speak To Our Hearts.
- Where in my life am I still tempted to “veil” myself, hiding from God or others instead of living openly in His presence?
- In what ways have I seen God begin to transform me this week, even in small or subtle moments?
- What might it look like for me to actively rely on the Holy Spirit’s power rather than my own effort in a specific area of my life?
Journaling Prompts
This Is A Safe Place To Be Honest With God
- Write about a recent moment where you sensed God’s presence. How did it affect your thoughts, emotions, or actions afterward?
- Describe an area where you feel “prone to wander.” What would returning to God in that space look like today?
- Imagine your life reflecting more of God’s glory “from glory to glory.” What changes do you hope to see, and what is one simple step you can take to lean into that transformation?

So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord, who is the Spirit, makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
