Prone To Wander | Tuesday

Tuesday | May 19

This Week's Focus: God’s restoration begins when we turn back to Him. Exodus 34 shows God revealing His mercy, patience, and faithfulness. Even after failure, God doesn’t abandon us, He restores our hearts and renews our identity in Him.

God doesn’t just rescue us; He walks with us through the process of transformation. Exodus 34 opens with God commanding Moses to chisel out new tablets, a profound reminder that restoration often comes after loss or failure. Our wandering, sin, or missteps don’t disqualify us from God’s covenant love. Even when we fail, God meets us where we are and invites us into renewed relationship.

Covenant with God isn’t about perfection; it’s about faithfulness. God renews His people not because they earned it, but because His mercy is steadfast. Likewise, He continually invites us back to Himself, shaping us into people who reflect His glory more fully each day.

Scripture

Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones… I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets…

Just Take The Next Step

Restoration doesn’t happen in one dramatic moment, it happens in faithful, small steps of returning to God. Your next step might be confessing a lingering sin, forgiving someone, or pausing to acknowledge God’s presence in the chaos. Each small act of surrender invites God to work His renewal in your heart.

Even Moses, a leader who had seen God’s power firsthand, had to return to the mountain and trust God again. God is calling you to climb your own spiritual “mountain,” trusting that He will meet you even if you’ve stumbled before.

Reflection

Reflection Helps Us Pause, Listen, And Let God Speak To Our Hearts.
  • Where in my life am I clinging to old failures instead of embracing God’s renewal?
  • How might God want to rewrite my story with His mercy this week?
  • What patterns or habits do I need to “chisel out” to receive His restoration fully?

Journaling Prompts

This Is A Safe Place To Be Honest With God
  • Write about a moment when you felt distant from God. How can you take a step toward Him today?
  • What does God’s covenant faithfulness mean for your current struggles or doubts?
  • List one small action you can take today that demonstrates trust in God’s renewing work.
