Prone To Wander | Wednesday

This Week's Focus: God has made a way for us to come near, not through our effort, but through His provision, fulfilled in the Resurrection of Jesus.

You Don't Have To Carry This
The priest’s garments include shoulder pieces with the names of the tribes of Israel engraved on them. Scripture says Aaron is to carry their names before the Lord.
This is a powerful image.
The priest does not come to God alone, he carries the people with him. Their identity is held close, remembered, and represented in God’s presence. Their names are not written lightly; they are engraved, intentional, and secure.
This reveals something about how God sees His people. They are not forgotten. Not overlooked. Not distant. They are intentionally brought before Him. Even when they are unaware, even when they wander, God has made a way for them to be continually remembered in His presence.
And yet, the people themselves cannot do this on their own. They are dependent on someone to carry them. They cannot step into that place by effort, by intention, or by trying harder. Access to God is not something they achieve, it is something God provides.
This points forward to a deeper truth. We are not meant to carry ourselves into God’s presence through our own effort. Left to ourselves, we would either strive endlessly or fall short completely. But God, in His mercy, did not leave access to Him in our hands.
He made a way.
Through Jesus, that way is fulfilled completely. Because of His resurrection, we are not just represented, we are brought near. Not occasionally, but continually. Not partially, but fully. Jesus does not carry a symbol of us; He brings us into the presence of God Himself. Our place with God is not fragile, it is secured by Him.
Still, it is easy to live as though we have to carry ourselves. We feel the weight of needing to get it right, to hold it together, to prove we belong. We measure our closeness to God by how we’re doing instead of trusting what He has already done.
But this passage gently reminds us: you don’t have to carry this.
You don’t have to carry the weight of making yourself acceptable to God. You don’t have to hold your life together tightly enough to stay near to Him. You don’t have to strive to be remembered.
In Christ, you already are.
The journey continues as we learn to trust that we are not forgotten, and we are not responsible for holding ourselves together before God. Instead, we learn to rest in the truth that we are carried, fully, faithfully, and forever.

Reflection
Reflection Helps Us Pause, Listen, And Let God Speak To Our Hearts.
- What does it mean that the people were carried before God?
- Where do I feel like I have to hold everything together myself?
- Do I trust that God sees and remembers me?
Journaling Prompts
This Is A Safe Place To Be Honest With God
- Write about a burden you’ve been carrying alone.
- What would it look like to release that to God?
