This Week's Focus: This week, we’ll learn how God’s grace meets us before expectation and invites us to trust Him in the wilderness through the hope of the Resurrection of Jesus.

Scripture

Scripture Helps Us Hear God And Live His Truth.
13The next day, Moses took his seat to hear the people’s disputes against each other. They waited before him from morning till evening.(vs. 13…)

Exodus 18:13–18 NLT

When Good Intentions Become Unsustainable

Moses isn’t doing something wrong, he’s doing too much.

He’s trying to help. Trying to lead well. Trying to be available to everyone. From morning until evening, he stands in the middle of the people, carrying responsibility that was never meant to rest on one person.

And here’s what’s key:
No one had told him to stop.

Sometimes the most exhausting patterns in our lives aren’t rooted in disobedience, but in overextension.

Jethro names what Moses cannot see:
“This is not good.”

Not because Moses doesn’t care, but because the way he’s carrying that care is unsustainable.

And it’s affecting more than just him.

“The people, too.”

When we carry more than God intended, it doesn’t just drain us—it limits what others experience.

In the wilderness, we often default to control.

If I don’t do it, it won’t get done.
If I don’t carry it, everything will fall apart.

But this passage exposes something deeper:
Carrying everything is not faithfulness.
Trusting God enough to release it is.

Reflection

Reflection Helps Us Pause, Listen, And Let God Speak To Our Hearts.
  • Where in my life am I doing more than God has asked of me?
  • How is that affecting both me and the people around me?
  • What am I afraid would happen if I let go?
