Week 07 | Saturday

Saturday | March 28, 2026

This Week's Focus: Freedom always comes at a cost. In Exodus 11–12, God creates a way of rescue for His people, not by avoiding judgment, but by providing protection through the blood of a lamb. The Passover is not just an ancient story; it points forward to Jesus, the ultimate Lamb, who makes a way for us when escape seems impossible.
This week invites us to see how God saves, how He calls His people to trust Him fully, and how the story of the Exodus continues to shape our lives today through Christ.

Scripture

Scripture helps us hear God and live His truth.
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Exodus 12:33:42 NLT

Walking Out of Captivity

Freedom finally comes and it comes quickly! Exodus 12:33–42 tells us that Israel leaves Egypt, not as slaves, but as God’s people. After years of oppression, God’s rescue is immediate, powerful, and undeniable. There is no hesitation, no turning back, He leads them out, fully committed to their freedom and His plan.

But freedom is not the end of the story. Exodus shows us that leaving Egypt is just the first step. God leads His people forward, teaching them how to live free, step by step. They must trust Him, follow His instructions, and rely on His guidance as they move toward the life He promises. Freedom comes with responsibility and trust, and God provides the path.

The same is true for us. Jesus rescues us from sin, fear, and anything that holds us captive, but He also invites us into a new way of living. A life marked by trust, obedience, and hope. Freedom is not only about leaving behind what binds us; it’s about stepping into the life God created for us, day by day, moment by moment.

Exodus 12:33–42 encourages us to take that first step with confidence. God’s rescue is real, His plan is perfect, and His guidance is always with us. Walking out of captivity is just the beginning of a journey toward the abundant life Jesus promises, a life of trust, purpose, and hope in every step.

Reflection

Reflection helps us pause, listen, and let God speak to our hearts.
  • What does “walking out of captivity” look like in your life today, and what step is God asking you to take first?
  • How can trusting God’s guidance help you live fully in the freedom Jesus offers?
  • What is one area where you need to step into freedom but feel hesitant or unsure?

Journaling Prompts

This Is a Safe Place to Be Honest With God
  • Reflect on a time God rescued you from a challenging situation. How did that experience shape the way you trust Him today?
  • Write about what freedom in Jesus looks like for you personally. How is He inviting you to walk differently in your daily life?
  • Consider areas where you may still feel “in captivity” to fear, doubt, or old habits. How can God’s step-by-step guidance lead you into freedom?

Worship

Worship gently draws our hearts closer to God, deepening our daily time of prayer and reflection.
God leads us out of captivity and into the life He promises, celebrating the freedom we have in Jesus and inviting us to step boldly into His guidance and purpose every day.

God’s rescue and freedom through Jesus are eternal, just as He led the Israelites out of Egypt; His power and love go beyond any captivity, offering us lasting hope, trust, and life in Him.

Memory Verse

Read it once a day. Let it shape how you think and pray this week.

"But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt."

Exodus 12:13 (NLT)

Prayer

Through prayer, we talk to God and listen for His guidance.
God, thank You for leading me out of captivity and into freedom. Teach me how to walk in that freedom every day. Amen.

As You Head Into Your Weekend

Step into this weekend knowing God has already gone ahead of you and that your freedom is real. His guidance is sure, and every step you take with Him is a step into hope, life, and purpose.

You’ve walked through rescue, sacrifice, and freedom this week. The same God who made a way through Egypt is still leading people toward freedom today and He is not finished with your story.
