Week 07 | Wednesday

Wednesday | March 25, 2026

This Week's Focus: Freedom always comes at a cost. In Exodus 11–12, God creates a way of rescue for His people, not by avoiding judgment, but by providing protection through the blood of a lamb. The Passover is not just an ancient story; it points forward to Jesus, the ultimate Lamb, who makes a way for us when escape seems impossible.
This week invites us to see how God saves, how He calls His people to trust Him fully, and how the story of the Exodus continues to shape our lives today through Christ.

Scripture

Scripture helps us hear God and live His truth.
1 While the Israelites were still in the land of Egypt, the Lord gave the following instructions to Moses and Aaron:... (vs. 1)

Exodus 12:1-13 NLT

Trusting God’s Way of Rescue

In Exodus 12, God gives Moses instructions for the first Passover. Every detail mattered, from choosing the lamb to placing its blood on the doorposts. It wasn’t just a ritual; it was God’s way of protecting His people and leading them to freedom. Sometimes God’s plans may not make sense at first, but they are always designed for our good.

The heart of this plan is in verses 12–13: “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn…But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, showing that you belong to me. When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” This was the moment that made all the difference. The blood was a sign of trust, obedience, and God’s protection. The Israelites had to follow His instructions even when they didn’t fully understand what would happen.

We face moments like that too. Our “plagues” may not look like Pharaoh or Egypt, but God sees what holds us back like fear, guilt, pain, or struggles we can’t control. Trusting God’s plan may feel uncertain, but just like the Israelites, we are safe when we follow Him. His instructions are not burdens, instead they are lifelines leading us to freedom.

Exodus 12 shows a God who provides guidance, protection, and rescue. When we follow Him and trust His way, especially the promise in verses 12 - 13, we step into His protection, hope, and courage. God’s plan works.

Our role is simple: trust, obey, and watch Him deliver.

Reflection

Reflection helps us pause, listen, and let God speak to our hearts.
  • What part of God’s plan for rescue in your life feels most difficult to trust right now, and why?
  • How does seeing God protect and provide in the Israelites’ story encourage you to rely on Him today?
  • In what ways can trusting God’s “instructions” bring freedom in areas of your life where you feel stuck or powerless?

Journaling Prompts

This Is a Safe Place to Be Honest With God
  • Write about a time you followed God’s guidance, even when it seemed confusing or risky. What did that obedience teach you about His faithfulness?
  • Reflect on areas where you are waiting for God’s rescue. How might God be asking you to take a small step of trust or action in that situation?
  • Consider the “blood on the doorposts” as a symbol of God’s protection. How can you practically remind yourself of His care and presence in your daily life?

Worship

Worship gently draws our hearts closer to God, deepening our daily time of prayer and reflection.
This song reminds us that God’s presence surrounds and protects us, just as He guided and shielded the Israelites through His instructions in Exodus 12, inviting us to trust His rescue in every area of our lives.

Reminds us that God never fails and is always at work, even when we feel surrounded by challenges just as He was with Israel in Egypt.

Memory Verse

Read it once a day. Let it shape how you think and pray this week.

"But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt."

Exodus 12:13 (NLT)

Prayer

Through prayer, we talk to God and listen for His guidance.
God, thank You that You see every part of my life and that Your plans are designed to protect and rescue me. Help me trust Your instructions, even when I don’t fully understand them. Give me courage to follow You, faith to lean on You, and peace to rest in Your protection. Thank You for the freedom and hope You bring. Amen.

Come Back Tomorrow

Tomorrow we’ll reflect on the cost of freedom and how God’s rescue always comes with purpose.
