Week 06 | Thursday

Thursday | March 19, 2026

This Week's Focus: Sometimes life feels stuck not because of circumstances, but because of unseen forces holding us back, fear, sin, unhealthy patterns or systems that feel impossible to overcome. Exodus 7-10, God confronts Pharaoh's hard heart with plagues, demonstrating that He is not passive in the face of oppression.
This week, we explore how God can confront what enslaves us today and make a way forward, even when change feels impossible.

Scripture

Scripture helps us hear God and live His truth.
1 “Go back to Pharaoh,” the Lord commanded Moses.…” (v.1)

Exodus 9:1-35 NLT

Trusting God’s Timing

In Exodus 9, God sends a powerful hailstorm over Egypt, but Pharaoh’s heart stays stubborn, and he refuses to let the Israelites go (Exodus 9:27–30). Even after seeing God’s power at work, Pharaoh chooses pride over obedience. If you’re honest, it can feel frustrating to watch—sometimes, we feel like we’ve prayed, we’ve stepped out in faith, and nothing seems to change. But here’s the good news: God’s timing is always perfect, and He is always at work, even when we can’t see it.

God’s actions in Egypt weren’t just about showing His power, they were about protecting and guiding His people. Before the hailstorm, He gave clear warnings and even offered mercy to those who listened (Exodus 9:18–19). In the same way, God is moving in our lives today, softening hearts, opening doors, and preparing us for the breakthroughs He has in store. The waiting? It’s not wasted time. It’s God’s way of shaping our hearts, protecting us, and setting us up for what’s next.

Waiting on God doesn’t mean standing still. Like the Israelites, we are called to trust Him, stay faithful, and follow His lead (Exodus 9:13–16). Even when the storms feel overwhelming, or when answers feel slow, God is orchestrating everything for our good. When we trust His timing, we can face today with hope, knowing that what God has promised is coming exactly when He says it will.

Reflection

Reflection helps us pause, listen, and let God speak to our hearts.
  • Where in your life are you feeling impatient or frustrated because God’s timing seems slow?
  • How can you recognize ways God might already be at work behind the scenes, even when you don’t see immediate results?
  • In what areas could you choose faithfulness and trust today, even before you see the breakthrough?

Journaling Prompts

This Is a Safe Place to Be Honest With God
  • Write about a time when God’s timing surprised you with a blessing or a breakthrough you didn’t expect. How did that experience strengthen your trust in Him?
  • List the “storms” or challenges you’re currently facing. How might God be working in those situations, even if it’s not obvious yet?
  • Reflect on practical ways you can stay faithful and trust God in the waiting periods of your life. What small steps of obedience can you take today?

Worship

Worship gently draws our hearts closer to God, deepening our daily time of prayer and reflection.
This song reminds us to trust God’s perfect timing, just like the Israelites had to wait for freedom, even when the answer seemed delayed.

This song encourages us to choose faithfulness and praise through the waiting, reflecting the devotional’s call to trust God and remain steadfast even in life’s storms.

Memory Verse

Read it once a day. Let it shape how you think and pray this week.

So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.

John 8:36 NLT

Prayer

Through prayer, we talk to God and listen for His guidance.
God, help me trust Your timing, even when I can’t see the full plan. Give me patience in the waiting, faith in the storms, and the courage to follow You today. Amen.

Come Back Tomorrow

Come back tomorrow as we explore how God’s power gives courage, reminding us that no matter the challenges we face, He is stronger than every fear and storm.
