Reading For Friday | Isaiah 9:6-7

The refrain of “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” ends with the angelic host proclaiming, “Glory to the newborn King!”

According to Strong’s Concordance, the primary Greek word for “glory” in the New Testament is doxa, which means splendor, radiance, and brilliance. It can also mean dignity, honor, praise, or worship, referring to God’s attributes, character, and presence.
In the song of the angels, “glory” is a proclamation of God’s greatness—His high status, His inherent worth, and His majesty.

It is interesting that in Matthew 25:31, the word “glory” is used to describe the majestic return of Christ. How fitting that the angels would also use it to announce His birth: “Glory to the newborn King!”
