Reading For Tuesday | John 1:1-5
The closing line of the refrain and the opening lines of verse two are the angel’s call to all creation to worship and praise the “newborn King.” This portion of the text emphasizes Jesus’ kingship, lordship, and His divine identity, even in the humility of His birth.
The phrase “Sun of Righteousness” is a reference to Malachi 4:2, which prophesies that this Sun will rise with healing in His rays.
The next line, “Light and life to all He brings,” portrays the Son as the Light of the World—the light that breaks into the world’s darkness and changes everything—a reflection of John 1 and Isaiah’s prophecies.

Journaling Questions
Grab your journal, find a quiet spot where you can be comfortable, and make a few notes as you reflect on one or more of these prompts:
- Does the Prince of Peace have access to your heart today? How might your life be different if you surrendered to Jesus and entered into His peace?
- Can you imagine your life without anxiety or worry? (Philippians 4) How much do you “depend on” or count on anxiety to keep you motivated to get things done? Have you ever considered that you might not need worry, anxiety, or fear?
- In what ways do you face darkness in your life? Are you able to recognize it as something that needs to be prayed over and surrendered to God, rather than something you must hold on your own?
- Does it seem possible to you that Jesus, the Light of the World, could shine His light on your situation?
- Consider writing a prayer, expressing to Jesus your concerns about the areas of your life right now that need new life, renewed energy, or a fresh breath of the Spirit.
