Reading For Thursday | Romans 8:18-23
This passage speaks of the creation groaning in anticipation of redemption, waiting for the freedom of God’s children.

Stanza Four of “Joy to the World” is about the Kingdom that is coming and the Kingdom that is already here. It looks forward to the fullness of the Kingdom of God—ruled by truth and grace, clarity and kindness, righteousness and mercy. The world has never seen a ruler like this King! His blessings will flow generously and unhindered, renewing the nations and the hearts of His people. This stanza invites us to live with a faithful longing to be with Jesus, to know Him, and to be filled with awe and wonder as witnesses to His renewing power.

Verse Four
He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of his righteousness
And wonders of his love

Exercise & Prayer Prompt

As you enter your time of prayer, consider a few of these prompts to guide your reflection:

  • Where do you need Jesus to rule and reign in your life right now?
  • Where are you needing extra grace—for yourself? For others?
  • Where have you seen the blessings of God flow toward you, toward others, and toward the world around you?
  • When was the last time you were caught up in awe and wonder—perhaps in creation? Consider going out under the stars (see Psalm 8) and giving yourself space to sit with God, delighting in His creative masterpiece. Offer a prayer of praise and thanksgiving.
