Reading For Friday | Matthew 5:6

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” — Matthew 5:6

God meets those who are hungry for Him. Preparing for worship means coming with anticipation—not just to sing songs or hear a message, but to encounter the living God. When we approach Him expecting to meet Him, our faith creates space for Him to move. We can trust His promise that when we seek Him with our whole hearts, we will find Him. True worship is not about performance or emotion; it’s about presence.

What are we expecting when we gather to worship? To be noticed? To be entertained? To be impressed with historical details? To be filled up? We worship to give God the glory that only He deserves. But He doesn’t leave us empty. When we pour out our hearts in true worship—when we draw near to Him—He draws near to us (James 4:8).

We have such a gentle and loving Father who meets us where we are!

Journaling Question

  • Am I anticipating an encounter with God when I worship? Ask Him to meet you powerfully, and come with a heart ready to receive.
