Getting Ready For the Week
Worship is where our faith becomes personal. It’s the moment we turn our focus away from ourselves and fix our eyes on God. This week, we’ll take intentional steps to make space for Him — in our schedules, our thoughts, and our hearts. When we do, we find that worship isn’t just something we attend; it’s the way we live.
Ask any parent with adult children who have moved out of the house, and they will tell you there is no greater feeling in the world than the joy of having their children back home for a holiday or special occasion. For a parent, watching their children share stories, reminisce, and laugh together is a joy multiplier. Even though a grown son or daughter can pick up the phone and call home at any time, it doesn’t come close to the experience of being there in person.
Your home experience may not be as joyful as this, but our Heavenly Father feels this same pleasure when His children come together. As sons and daughters of the King, we want nothing more than to put a smile on His face because of all He has done for us and so lavishly given to us. He is always available to us in prayer, and His Word guides and leads us. But nothing brings Him joy like seeing His children together, under His roof, experiencing His presence, loving one another, and sharing stories of His work. We experience a unique blessing in corporate worship when, as one body, we declare the greatness of our Father.
Worship isn’t an event we passively attend each week; it’s intentional time we devote that reflects God’s priority in our lives. This week, we will dive into practical ways to prepare our hearts for worship. When we take time during the week to quiet the noise, confess our sins, remember His goodness, and set our hearts on Him with expectation, we can truly worship and experience a transforming encounter with the Father.
