Reading For Sunday | Philippians 3:3–14
The Surpassing Worth of Knowing Christ
Faith Promise is one of our favorite times each year—a time to celebrate how God has worked through our church family to reach people both in our communities and around the world with the good news of Jesus. It’s also a time to look ahead with faith, asking, What is God inviting me to do next so that more people can experience a life-changing relationship with Jesus?
In his message this week, Pastor Marcus Johnson reminded us of the radical transformation that takes place when we truly encounter Christ. Just as the Apostle Paul once pursued achievement, status, and success, we too can find ourselves striving to “build our résumés” in this world—working to prove ourselves worthy. But Paul came to realize that all of it was worthless compared to “the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord” (Philippians 3:8).
When we grasp that truth, everything else falls into place. Our priorities shift. What once seemed valuable—comfort, reputation, wealth—now pales beside the joy of knowing Jesus and making Him known. This week, as you reflect on Paul’s words and the stories of people like Brock and Kerri Johnson, the Ospinas, and the Marlows, allow the Spirit to realign your heart around what truly matters.
Our Faith Promise is more than a financial commitment—it’s a declaration that Jesus alone is worthy to sit on the pedestal of our lives.
