MONDAY | SERVICE TEMPERAMENT - SERVE WEEK 2

Those with a SERVICE temperament feel closest to God when they are helping others. While it might seem like a redundancy to consider what it means to serve others out of a service temperament, it is worth spending some unhurried time meditating on how Jesus exemplified the service temperament. In John 13, Jesus served his disciples with a resolute humility that remains a model for serving others to this day.

Read the passage for today s-l-o-w-l-y. Enter into the scene in your mind. Allow a picture to form in your imagination. Hear the sound of water being poured into a wash basin. Is that the sound of awkward murmur around the room as your Messiah dons the dress of a lowly household servant, kneels and begins to wipe the feet of the first disciple? What emotions surface in you as He draws near to where you are seated?

• Who has served you in a memorable way in the past week? 
• What are the biggest internal and external hurdles you face when considering an act of service?
• How might the Lord be inviting you to overcome one of those hurdles today?
