Reading For Thursday | MARK 4:35-41
Today we will explore those with a temperament of NATURE whose hearts open up to God when they get outdoors in God’s creation. Colossians 1:16-17 tells us that Jesus created all things and in him all things hold together. So, it should not be a surprise to see that Jesus often served others through the special connection he had with the natural world. While we will never have the power and authority that Jesus displays over the natural order, those with a nature temperament may capitalize on their keen awareness of God in nature as a way to serve others and point them to Him.
JOURNALING & REFLECTION
Read the passage for today s-l-o-w-l-y. Enter into the scene in your mind. Allow a picture to form in your imagination. Who are you as you imagine the scene (one of the fisherman disciples in your element on the water, one of the others hoping that a former fisherman will get you through the storm)? What emotions do you sense as your question is posed to Jesus (vs 38)? How do you imagine Jesus' tone and body language as he asks you the questions of vs 40?
- Spend a few minutes brainstorming familiar verses, stories or passages from the Bible where nature plays a significant role. Make a list of 5.
- What do those elements of the natural world communicate about God in those passages? Ask God if there is anyone who might be blessed by you offering these insights today.
