Reading For Monday | Exodus 14:10-14 | Acts 1:4-5
As activists and service oriented people, we often leap into action forgetting real transformation beings with GOD, not in our effort alone. Ideally, in our discipleship to Jesus, we want to balance action with trust and surrender. Try one or more of these practices/questions to help you REST in God.
JOURNALING QUESTIONS
Spend 5–10 minutes in silence, reflecting on GOD’s nature and his heart for broken and forgotten people. Take a few minutes to journal your thoughts about a couple of these questions:
- What Scripture passages, experiences or stories from the Bible help you recall the faithfulness of GOD, reminding you of GOD’s heart for the broken world?
- When you see a need around you, are you most inclined to act before you pray, or do you find it easy to “wait patiently for GOD” to move or give you direction? (Psalm. 37:7)
- If you could ask GOD for help in this area (learning balance between action and waiting), what would you want GOD to do for you?
