SECOND WOE | SECURITY IN MATERIAL POSSESSIONS AND POWER

TUESDAY, JUNE 24

This second woe also concerns wealth, but it focuses on placing money at the center of your life. You've built your foundation on material possessions, allowing them to provide a false sense of security. In Matthew 7, Jesus speaks of building your foundation on Him and His teachings, which means pursuing the Kingdom of Heaven, not earthly kingdoms. He warns, “But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash” (Matthew 7:26-27). In Habakkuk’s time, the Babylonians were building their legacy and nation on wealth and physical conquests. This was also the case in Jesus’ day, and it's a situation many of us face today. Yet, the Lord directs us to focus on Him, His promises, and His goodness to sustain our foundation in Him.
