WE BELONG TO EACH OTHER

FRIDAY, MAY 16

READING: ROMANS 12:4-5

As we close out this week, let’s go back to a simple but powerful truth: following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. From the very beginning, God designed His people to live in relationship—with Him and with one another. Romans 12 reminds us that we are “one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.” That’s more than a metaphor—it’s a calling.
You weren’t meant to just go to church. You were made to belong to the Church. That means committing to a community, even when it’s messy. It means showing up when it’s inconvenient, choosing grace when it would be easier to walk away, and carrying one another’s burdens as if they were your own. The Church is where we practice love, forgiveness, generosity, humility, and faithfulness. And it’s where we become more like Jesus—together.
So let’s silence the lie of individualism once and for all. You don’t need to figure this out on your own. You were never supposed to. The Church isn’t perfect—but it’s God’s idea. And when we live like we belong to each other, we become a living, breathing picture of His Kingdom. This is who we are. Let’s be the Church.

JOURNALING QUESTIONS | PRAYER PROMPTS:
RECOMMIT TO COMMUNITY

  • How is God calling you to engage more fully in the life of the Church?
  • What would change if you truly believed “we belong to each other”?

Take 10 minutes today to think back on the people who have shaped your walk with Jesus. Who led you to Christ? Who encouraged you when you were struggling? Who modeled what it looks like to love the Church well? Write down their names. Say a prayer of gratitude for each one. If possible, reach out to one and thank them. Then ask yourself: Whose journey am I investing in now?
