Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect to happen at the event?

Upon arrival in our main lobby, you will register and be assigned to a group of people. You will make the journey to Bethlehem with this group. You’ll experience the first part of The Journey in our Worship Center; a live production of beautiful Christmas music.

Next, you’ll be led outside to an ancient fishing village.  You’ll learn the history of your group and receive your tax coin and citizenship papers. After crossing the “Sea of Galilee,” you will walk through the Roman Centurion encampment and meet your assigned guard.  Along the trail you will encounter Mary and Joseph and see how each were visited by an angel messenger.

You will come upon wise men following a star, then see evil King Herod plotting and pacing in his palace. You will experience the sights, smells, tastes, and sounds in the Bethlehem marketplace. And then you’ll follow shepherds to find the baby Jesus lying in a manger.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your time slot to allow adequate time for parking and getting into the building.

How long is The Journey experience, registration to exit?

Once you enter the worship center, you can expect your Journey experience to last anywhere from 1-2 hours.

What if I need assistance in walking?

We have golf carts available for people requiring mobility assistance.  These carts can be reserved for each Journey timed experience.  Please note that strollers and wheelchairs are not allowed on the trail. We have a parking area for them near the trail entrance.

What types of interpretation will you be offering?

We will be offering ASL interpretation for people with hearing impairments at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 15. Please plan on arriving at least 30 minutes in advance to find a parking spot and your interpreter.

To register for that specific time, please click here.

We will also be offering Spanish interpretation of the scenes through our app. Download the Compassion Christian Church app prior to your visit and then select Journey to access the files.  As a consideration to others, please bring a pair of headphones with you to utilize during your experience.

Is there much walking?

The Journey experience is roughly a quarter of a mile on a cleared path through the woods. If this is something that will be problematic please purchase a “mobility assistance” ticket.

How should I dress for The Journey?

Since a large part of the experience will be outside, guests should dress with the winter weather in mind. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Is childcare available?

Childcare is not provided for The Journey.

Is The Journey suitable for young children?

Young children will definitely enjoy The Journey!  As you can expect to be here for several hours, we recommend you bring any food and drink they may need. You may also like to bring a book or quiet game to keep them entertained during the musical part of the experience.  Food items, coffee and drinks will be available for sale in our café.

We also offer $5.00 matinee tickets for each of the Saturday performances.  These times are designed for families with children and for seniors. The matinee experience bypasses the opening music program.

Please note that strollers are not allowed on The Journey trail. We have a stroller parking area for them near the trail entrance.

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?

Advance ticket purchase is recommended as it will speed up your registration time. However, tickets will be available for purchase at the door. These tickets will be the same timed tickets you can pre-purchase online.

I purchased a ticket for a specific date and/or time, but now I can’t come on that date or at that time. What should I do?

Tickets are refundable up to 24 hours before your scheduled time.  If something changes, and you are no longer able to attend, please go to Eventbrite.com to the Tickets page and click “Request a refund”.  Refunds can take up to 7 days to process and up to 5 days to show up in your account.

I accidently ordered tickets for the wrong day, can I switch them to a different day?

We would love to help with this.  However, the only way to do so is to request a refund for your existing tickets and then purchase tickets for the new day/time. (As long as there are still tickets available.)
